At last night’s City Council Study Session meeting, the City of Brighton’s independent rate consultants, Stantec, presented their water and wastewater utility rate study to City Council. The presentation included an overview of the water and wastewater funds, plant investment fees, and a rate and fee recommendation. No formal action is taken at a study session meeting.
City Council requested to further discuss the two alternatives suggested by the rate consultant at the next Study Session meeting on Sept. 10. The two alternatives both include reductions in water and wastewater rates, with alternative 1 including an 8 percent rate decrease and alternative 2 including a 4 percent decrease along with an adjustment to the tier system.
The presentation is available on the city’s web site at www.brightonco.gov/1415/Water-News. The full Study Session meeting may be viewed at https://brightonco.gov/378/Watch-City-Council-Meetings.
Following a request for proposal (RFP) process, the city contracted with Stantec in January to provide a comprehensive rate study and recommendations.
