New elevated water tank celebrated with ribbon cutting

Water Tower ribbon cutting

The City of Brighton celebrated today its new two million gallon (MG) elevated tank at Water Tower Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Two months ahead of schedule, the new tank is already in operation storing treated water for the city. Construction on the project began in June of 2021 and was raised to its permanent height on June 12 of this year (video here and here).

The new tank adds support to the existing five water storage tanks that are used to store treated water from the water treatment plant prior to distribution to customers. These tanks provide additional water for fire emergencies, storage for high demand, chlorine contact time per state regulations, and pressure for the distribution system.

“This new tank supports our growing city, but most importantly, helps us to keep our community safe,” said City of Brighton Utilities Director Marc Johns.
