Water Efficient Rebates

Inefficient or old household water fixtures can use an excessive amount of water. To reduce water waste and save money, consider investing in replacing inefficient fixtures in your home. The City of Brighton offers rebates to residents for toilets and washing machines. As of 2016, Colorado became a WaterSense state. This means that manufacturers and retailers can only sell the Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense labeled products. The EPA WaterSense Program is a voluntary partnership program that serves as both a label for water-efficient products and a resource for water conservation. 

Washing laundry accounts for a large percentage of indoor water use-representing 15-40% of household usage. High-Efficiency Washers (HEW) can significantly reduce water use by more than 6,000 gallons per year when compared to standard-sized clothes washers that use approximately 12,000 gallons of water annually. By investing in a HEW, you can potentially save energy, use less detergent, reduce fabric wear, and use less water (Alliance for Water Efficiency).

Customers are eligible for a rebate of 30% of the cost when installing a Smart Irrigation Controller. Verify eligibility by viewing the list of eligible controllers. -Eligible for one

WaterSense Labeled Toilets 

Since becoming a WaterSense state, all toilets sold in Colorado are WaterSense labeled (with a maximum flow of 1.28 gallons per flush) and those models are no longer eligible for the rebate from the City of Brighton. If your toilet is purchased outside of Colorado, please refer to the EPA WaterSense Product List to ensure rebate eligibility:

Each Brighton utility customer is eligible to receive a rebate on a EPA WaterSense labeled toilet with an average of 1.1 GPF, credited back to their account. 

UHET (Ultra High-Efficiency) Rebate

WaterSense labeled toilets that use an average of 1.1 gallons per flush or less are eligible for a $100 rebate. . List of qualifying UHET models -Eligible for two-

Toilets are one of the main sources of water use in the home, accounting for nearly 30 percent of an average home’s indoor water consumption. Older, inefficient toilets that use as much as 6 gallons per flush also happen to be a major source of wasted water in many homes. By replacing old, inefficient toilets with WaterSense labeled models, the average family can reduce water used for toilets by 20 to 60 percent—that’s nearly 13,000 gallons of water savings for your home every year!
