[ARCHIVED] Coronavirus (COVID-2019) Updates

CoronaVirus

COVID-2019 (Coronavirus)

The City of Brighton staff continues to be in communication with local health partners, Tri-County Health Department (TCHD), and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) regarding the 2019 Coronavirus disease (COVID-2019).

Adams County Moving to Level Yellow on the state's new COVID-19 dial

Adams County is operating under Level Yellow of the state's COVID Dial 3.0 - the dial makes it easier for counties to move into Level Green: Protect Our Neighbors, which is the least restrictive level on the dial.

The Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) has in place a simplified dial under a recent public health order, in which a new “Level Clear” indicates the new normal. According to the TCHD, this also marks the start of a phased reopening. Phase 1 began on April 16, in which Adams County moved from Level Yellow to the less restrictive Level Blue (this period will last 30 days). On May 16, phase 2 will begin, which will allow counties to move to Level Clear depending on hospital admission rates (this period will last 90 days). Read more here.

COVID-19 and Water/Wastewater Treatment

Regarding COVID-19 and the city’s water and wastewater operations, coronavirus has no impact on the quality or supply of your tap water. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies. Based on current evidence, the risk to water supplies is low and Americans can continue to use and drink water from their tap as usual.

As required for all municipal water systems, the treatment processes used at the Water Treatment Facility removes or destroys 99.99% of all viruses.
